Philadelphia International Records
Some days my job isn’t so bad. Today I took a train down to Phily to talk to some folks about digitally releasing several titles from the Philadelphia International Records catalog. Producers Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff started Philadelphia International Records in 1971. Gamble and Huff were associated with artists such as Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, The Intruders, Lou Rawls, The O’Jays, Patti LaBelle, The Spinners, Teddy Pendergrass and Wilson Pickett among others. We got a private tour of the studios where many of the best known Phily Soul Classics were recorded during the 1970’s. I can’t really go into detail as to what we’re working on, but it does make me pretty happy know that I really do get paid to listen to music and play on computers.
