Wedding Update
Things I think about…
Is there such a thing as a Groom-zilla?
Why aren’t there Groomal Showers?
Do places like Guitar Center, Apple and Best Buy have wedding registries?
Is it ok to register for a PlayStation 3?
I don’t want GreenEggsAndSam.com to become just another wedding site. I’ve read these sites and frankly, most of the details are pretty boring unless you are directly involved. However, there’s some pertinent information that I think several folks may want to know. I’ll try to condense.
In true El Gomez fashion, the wedding is turning into quite a festive event. As of now (and please note, the details are subject to change) we will have a mini tour type wedding. The actual wedding will likely be for the immediate family on August 26th in Hilton Head, SC. It will be followed by a series of satellite dates. Party #1 will take place in OH for all the OH friends and family during Labor Day weekend. Later in September, we will have a stop NC for the NC crew - you know, for the people who have known me since I was a wee-wee tot. Finally, we will end the festivities in NYC with an extravaganza to which everyone and his/her brother will be invited.
Semi Boring Part (skip if you are busy or don’t want to read about touchy-feely stuff)
This set up was a difficult decision to make. I wanted to be able to invite lots of people. It didn’t seem fair to have the wedding in NC or OH and NY is just too freakin expensive. I really wanted the wedding to be something that anyone who wanted to come, could do so. In fact, we even considered a community-style wedding. However, in today’s world (esp in NYC) the logistics of this are too much to stomach. I also wanted folks to feel invited, but not obligated. And since we were choosing to go away, this would mean quite a financial burden on everyone. So, after much thought, this seems like the best compromise that we could come up with. Everyone would like to partake, should be able to do so. The older family members don’t have to travel. The younger friends won’t be as financially burdened.
On a lighter note…
Danny claims that since I am basically getting married four times that I should have (at least) four bachelor parties. And since Jaesan will be in London all summer, he claims that I may have to have a bachelor party after the wedding. I’ve never heard of 5 bachelor parties, but I guess I need to be open-minded.
I don’t think the satellite parties will be very traditional. Hope this does not disappoint.

Have a co-ed shower! And register for anything you’d like. Do an amazon.com wish-list if the places you mentioned don’t have “registries.”
Seriously, if you are excited to be involved, customize things however you’d like.

Wow!! This August?? Good for you! I don’t know why we stretched out the planning stuff for almost a year!
I remember the Sam who wondered why everyone was getting married and had no interest in it!
But hey, when you know they’re the one, all preconceived notions go out the window. I was the same way.
Gus and I will be in Ohio most likely the first 2 weeks of Sept. He has to get lasik done at the AF base between Cincinatti and Dayton and to see some of my family that lives in Columbus. Can we crash the party there with Heidi’s fam?? LOL

1)No, there is no such thing as a Groom-zilla. Just stay out of Heidi’s way.
2)Groomal shower just sounds weird. Call it what is really is, a bachelor party.
3)Not sure about the other two, but if Best-Buy doesn’t it’s a bridal conspiracy.
4)Not if you ask Heidi. But something could be worked out under the table between friends.
