GreenEggsAndSam.com Blog RIP

I am afraid the time has come. Most of you already know my blog is dead. I guess it is time to admit it to myself. I’ve fallen off the wagon and at this point, I’m kinda tired of feeling guilty for not keeping it up-to-date.

Life is good. Heidi and I are moved into our new apt. We’re mostly unpacked. The wedding mini tour was fantastic. The love and support that our friends and family shared with us was simply amazing.

Work is moving along quite well. We’re in the midst of a major transition in music and entertainment. Given what I do and the position I am in, I am no longer comfortable sharing my thoughts about work in this forum.

Over the last few years, my blog helped me work thru lots of things. It made me laugh. It made me think. I hope it had the same effect on you.

I would like to consider myself a blogger emeritus. I may still check in from time to time and share a few photos. I just won’t give the play by play of my everyday life. I do, however, reserve the right to come out of retirement. Think of me as the Jay-Z of the Blogosphere, well maybe the Weird Al.

I just want to thank all of you who have visited my blog and shared this part of my life.

I leave you with this poem by Rudyard Kipling. It is something that my 8th grade English teacher made us recite aloud. At 13 years old, I did not fully comprehend these words, but I have since developed quite an appreciation.

“If” by Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build ‘em up with wornout tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on”;

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And - which is more - you’ll be a Man my son!

Please note: Rudyard Kipling passed in 1936 so I am pretty sure this would be in public domain. If not, I apologize.

    I am truly sad there won’t be anymore blogs coming from you. You will be missed in cyberspace.

    I’m also saddened by the news! Please keep us updated and at least email every now and then!

    You totally took me back to Mrs. Barnes’ classroom, too. I hated reciting that in front of everyone!!

About Sam Gomez

This is my lil' workshop on the web. I created it to let my friends and family know what's going on with me. It quickly became a place for me to rant about my feelings and publicly humiliate myself - not that I needed yet another medium. Generally, I just share whatever is on my mind (stories, photos, etc.) Read the full about me.
