My Theory On LinkedIn
For quite some time, I’ve had a theory on LinkedIn and why people use it. For those of you who don’t know about LinkedIn, think of it as a MySpace for professionals. (You can check out my profile, if you want to see how it works.)
Anyway, my theory is pretty simple. There’s a good chance someone is looking for a new job, if any of the following occur:
A.) A less-than tech-savvy friend/acquaintance/co-worker joins totally out of the blue
B.) You hear from someone that you hadn’t heard from in years, and they reach out to you through LinkedIn
C.) You notice that someone all of the sudden adds a ton of friends
I felt pretty good about this theory until this morning. Every so often I will casually browse through LinkedIn profiles, in case someone new has joined. Somehow I missed the option where you can now import your addressbook. (I thought you could only do it on LinkedIn if you use gmail or hotmail.)
Anyway, for those of you that know me on Facebook, there’s no reason for concern. That said, if any headhunters want to offer me a multi-million dollar gig to sit around in my underwear and listen to music, I will certainly entertain offers.

How would that be different than what you do now?
