Fixing Up the House
The in-law’s visited this weekend. They provided manual labor and some much needed TLC. (I’m not sure why I am so emotional about this whole house thing, but I’ve been kinda a wuss.)
It is really amazing what 4 focused people can do. Here’s a short list of what we got done. Thank goodness for the long weekend. (And yes, I am going to take credit for any project that I provided supervision and/or inspection services.)
- Purchased paint; Painted 2 bathrooms
- Installed dead bolt and screen door arms
- Fixed missing board on pier
- Cleaned entire car garage top to bottom
- Bought lawn mower; Mowed lawn
- Bought weed eater; Weed eated lawn
- Trimmed trees and hedges
- Installed exterior solar lights
- Replaced section of siding on back porch
- Hung 3 mirrors
- Hung about 20 pictures
- Hung curtains and blinds
- Assembled Jack’s studio desk
- Rearranged man room
- Set up Heidi’s computer
- Moved all Christmas and storage items to attic
- Broke-down, bundled and drug to curb 150+ boxes
- Cleaned house top to bottom
- Grew beard and shaved said beard - Sorry no picts (Yeah, I didn’t know I could grow a full beard in 4 days either, but I guess it is all of this yard work and use of power tools has gotten the testosterone supercharged)
At this point, we’re pretty much unpacked. The only things that are left to unpack are a couple of bookshelves and my CD cabinet. All of our clothes, dishes, tools, etc. have been put away.
This morning I used a monthly LIR ticket for the first time.

Almost 2 hours on a train?? Wow. Are you still in NY or another state?
