” From this Day Forward…” Heidi and I will have soon been married two years. When we got married, the local county government gave us a pamphlet along with the marriage license. It was issued by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. At first, the pamphlet made me laugh. I thought, “Should [...] I am on a R-4 type subway car. Car number 401. The car was built in 1932 and operated in in passenger service until the 1970s. I got on this train completely randomly. I was rushing between Sunday afternoon holiday parties. Apparently some of these trains are running through the end of the year. [...] Literally. I am headed into the City on the train from Long Island. Again, since we haven’t found an apartment in Forrest Hills just yet, we’re gonna be nomads until we can get the living situation sorted out. The first leg of the wedding tour went great. On the way from Hilton Head to [...] The wedding was fantastic! I spent most of the day entertaining my mom, Heidi’s grandmother and Heidi’s aunt. We drove around Daufuskie Island on our golf cart. (Cars are not allowed on most parts of the island.) The weather cleared up nicely so we were able to have the ceremony in front of the lighthouse [...] Today is the big day. The wedding is to take place at 5:30, here in front of the lighthouse. It is raining pretty hard right now, but the forecast says that it should clear up. If it doesn’t, we’ll probably have the ceremony inside. All the guests started to arrive yesterday and so we checked [...] We drove until after 11 last night and got up early this morning so that we could apply for the marriage license. Everything is moving along. We are staying in this lighthouse on Daifuske Island. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. The island is really quite peaceful. Tomorrow the guests will [...] Last night was my bachelor party. Originally, it was supposed to be a going away/congrats dinner with some work folks, organized by Eric and Peter. Then on Monday, I ended up inviting a few extra friends. I won’t go into too much detail about the events that transpired, but we stopped at my fav spot [...] Man, the last month or so has been a blur. We’ve been dealing with all the various wedding details. Who would have thought that there were that many different shades of green? Actually, I am being overly dramatic. Heidi’s dealt with most of the details. I’ve just provided input where needed. It is hard to [...] Now that I am engaged, Danny thought it would be a good idea to go hang out with all the other old men at the local OTB. (Heidi’s out of town.) We were the youngest people there by at least 30 years. Ironically, Danny was the only one with a cane. (He had an operation [...] |
