Quick NC Jaunt
Heidi and I are North Carolina at the moment. My niece, Sheila, graduated from high school this week so we threw her a party last night. We had between 60-70 people at my sis’s house for food, drinks and entertainment. The entertainment consisted of a pinata, paint fight (for the kids) and tie-dying of t-shirts (for everyone.) I was kinda amused with the fact that she came up with the tie-dye idea. When I was her age, all I wore was tie-died t-shirts. (Now I don’t even know where I stored all those shirts.) The party was great. Even the old folks enjoyed making their shirts and watching the kids roll around in the paint. Since I was a tired and grouchy, I was a little less socialable than my normal self, but I still enjoyed seeing everyone.
This is the shortest trip I’ve ever had to NC. Our plane was delayed, so we didn’t end up leaving NYC until after midnight Friday. We didn’t get home until around 3 AM and we got up around 8:30 to start getting things ready for the party. I also didn’t sleep much Thursday night either, because I had a couple of really important things due at work on Friday. I think I went to bed around 2 and got up around 6:45. I’ve been working on this Request for Proposal (RFP) to send out to some vendors. If things continue on this path, it is going to turn into a really big project. I need the results of this, but really don’t want it to consume me.
We’re also beginning the review period at work. I had to fill out this self-assessment. Generally, I am pretty critical of myself and my work, but darn it, we’ve done some pretty impressive things this year.
We head back to NYC later this afternoon. Having the fam over to my house for lunch in about an hour.
