Pre-Halloween
Heidi and I had planned to stop by several parties last night. Not a huge fan of Halloween, Heidi had a little trouble deciding what/who she wanted to be. We finally decided that since I was going to be Elliot, she should be Gurtie, Elliot’s little sister. She happily agreed since this meant she would get to wear blue jeans and a baseball cap. I had to adapt my costume for the parties since I didn’t want to try and take BMX bike in all those places. I ended up attaching E.T.’s basket to my waist.
First, we stopped at a surprise karaoke party for Karen. Little did I know that Karen was terrified of E.T. Good thing my E.T. was cute, because she was still able to sing without breaking down in tears. I even sang a couple of songs before everyone else got there. Everyone dressed up and as the private room got full, we decided to head to the next place.
Jen had a party at the New York Rican Poets Cafe. Jen looked great, as always. This year she was 80’s Madonna. At some point a few people commented that E.T.’s finger looked more like he had a… well, he was excited. Jen thought he might look a little more authentic if the tip of his finger was glowing red, instead of a shining light. She ran in the back and quickly returned with a red balloon. Everyone gasped for a second before she realized how folic it looked. Then, of course, we all died laughing. I’d hoped we’d get to stay for the costume awards at Jen’s party, but it was getting late and we still wanted to stop by Robin’s party.
The next party was at Gatsby’s. Robin dressed as the ghost of Amelia Earhart. Her whole crew was there and it was a great end to great night. Unfortunately, by this time the battery in E.T.’s finger was dead, so they didn’t get to see him in full form.
