2 Week Update
Why are all my posts about my new job? Because I am obsessed. After two weeks, do I still have a smile on my face? Let me see. Check.
Yesterday, I went to my first marketing meeting at the new gig. Let me tell you about it. It began with a sincere, “How’s everyone doing?” from the head guy, Jeff. Then he went around the room and praised a handful of individuals for going above and beyond the call of duty. Next, he let everyone know the previous week’s presentation had been well received by the company’s top executives. Then we calmly went thru various projects on the schedule. There was no yelling. Questioning of competence. Fear. Nothing but clear, positive discussion about the projects ahead. They even stopped a couple of times and discussed how compelling the albums were and if they needed to push back production to add a couple more tracks. Could it be that we are actually concerned with what the consumer wants? (Yes, I drink the Cool-Aid at the new place.)
In other news, I’ve gotten up in time to get on the bike 8 out of 9 times over the past 2 weeks. Not bad, eh?
Tonight’s my birthday party. I am looking forward to seeing my friends. Last night’s snow may be a good lame excuse for a few of my lame friends not to show, but I think I’ll still have a pretty good turnout. Hope to see everyone there.
