Blog Realization
It has come to my attention that my blog has long since passed the point of being funny. It now rather serves as a place for me to complain about how tired I am. Now that I’ve recognized this, I guess I can proceed to bitch and moan about other things in my life.
Friday night the World Series of Poker visited my apartment. If you didn’t get a seat invitation, it is because we still weren’t sure if we were going to play at 5 PM on Friday. (When did hanging out with friends become such a big ordeal?) I ended up feeling like a spokesperson for one of those PartyPoker.net commercials. (Innocent young lad’s voice: Yeah, I would love to play poker, only I don’t really know how. Evil mastermind’s dark voice: Don’t worry. We love teaching new players how to play. Hmmmph-hah-ha-ha-ha-ha!) I held my own when playing Texas Hold ‘em, but I am not so sure some of the other games weren’t invented on the spot just to take my money. (3 card monte anyone?) Not to fret, the next time we get together we’ll play “Who can hang out w/o getting drunk and obnoxious.” I think I know who’ll be the first one out, DF.
Speaking of poker, my webstats are screwed up because of these darn poker sites crawling my site. There’s about 500 poker sites listed as my top referrers. I can’t decide if they’re trying to spam my comments section with ads, or if they think they clutter up my reports long enough, that I will actually visit one of their sites. Maybe they just want to unleash a virus that will make me go on an unparalleled killing spree. Could terrorists be behind the popularity of poker?
Overall, work is going fine. For some reason, everyone still thinks my last name is Lopez. (SOB. I guess we all look the same.) Other than that, I am really getting involved with the projects and beginning to make a difference. My bosses have made a couple of my encouraging comments, but being my own worst critic, I still don’t feel that I have a lot of traction yet. There are a lot of things I would like to try, unfortunately there’s just one of me and I can’t pull the long hours that used to at Elektra.
One annoying thing did happen on Friday. I woke up and read on the Internet about something Corporate had done earlier in the week. It was one of those things that make you look like a big ol’ dumbass b/c it was communicated internally first. Fortunately, I read it in the trades before I called one of our partners and asked them to do something that we apparently no longer allow. Thanks, guys.
In a little more positive news, I have registered for 1st summer session classes which start tomorrow. (Spring classes ended Monday.) This means that I am completely broke (summer classes alone cost me nearly $10K,) but I am on track to finish school by the end of this calendar year.
BTW, why do I actually have time to update my blog? I am supposed to be writing a 15 page term paper.
