Annie and Buji

Heidi and I went to Annie and Buji’s wedding over the weekend in Washington DC. Since we didn’t leave at 7 AM as originally planned, we spent most of the day sitting in traffic. The 4-5 hr drive took us 7-8 hrs. Oh well, a small price to pay I guess for a friend’s wedding. It just means we didn’t do any DC sightseeing as we had planned.
We did, however, have dinner with a couple of Heidi’s friends who live in the area. Ironically, the last time we were in DC was for their wedding - a wedding that we somehow missed b/c we got lost. (We did make it to their reception.)
Annie and Buji’s wedding was a full day affair. It began with a traditional Hindu wedding in the morning followed by a lunch. The American wedding was later in the afternoon, followed by a Chinese banquet. I’d never been to a Hindu wedding, so I didn’t know how it worked. Apparently it is ok to talk during a Hindu wedding. At first, I didn’t know that, so I got pretty annoyed with the folks around me who wouldn’t shut up so I could hear. Later, I caught on. The afternoon ceremony was just as beautiful, but remind me not to get married outside in the middle of June. At least I could take off my tie. I was afraid the poor ring bearer (pictured above) wasn’t going to make it. We didn’t get to stay for the banquet b/c Heidi had to teach on Monday.
Congrats Annie and Buji!

Hey Sam! That’s a great picture of us! I’m glad you had a good time, and sorry about the heat! I thought the same thing when I walked out for the procession, we found out later that it was 99 degrees at that time of that day when you factor in the humidity. I was really worried that some of the older folks were going to keel over! Thanks for coming to the wedding, we’re so glad you and Heidi could come!! Hey so where is the picture of the ring bearer? - Annie
