Weekend of Weddings
I’ve reached that point in life where my friends are beginning to get married. Well, actually, all of my childhood friends in NC have already been married at least once, but now my NY friends are also getting married.
This weekend I’m supposed to attend 2 separate weddings. Tonight is my friend Sherika Loung’s wedding. We hung out a lot in college and even went to Vegas together for the first time. She’s getting married at the Greentree Country Club in New Rochelle. Tomorrow’s is Heidi’s friend Dan, somewhere a little further north.
Still, I am not inspired. Call me naive, a romantic, or whatever, but when I get married, I want it to be for the rest of my life. For now, I want to enjoy being young, single and living in New York. I think that’s why so many marriages don’t work out. Many people get married too young. Many times they don’t know themselves, much less the other person. Maturity certainly comes at different ages. For me, 27 is still too young.
Still, I am happy for Sherika. I’m glad she’s found the one who she wants to spend the rest of her life with. I am looking forward to catching up with some old buds at the wedding.
