Do You Like Me: Yes, No or Maybe
I really wanted to post more pre-teen notes this week, but I’ve used my time at home to hang out with my family and a couple of friends. Tonight I met up with Tracy for dinner. We had a great time as always.
Anyway, in an attempt not to disappoint my loyal readers, I shall post the following note from the SG archives. I think this is from 5th or 6th grade. I even found the hand writing from the original note to be funny. The certainly shows my suave ways, even as a pre-teen. (Apparently Valerie was getting on my nerves at the time.)
Girl: Valerie likes you a lot and she thinks that she is impressing you.
Me: I would hate to see her try not to impress someone!
Girl: She wants to know who you’re going with?
Me: No one. I was going to talk to someone about 2 weeks ago, but I’m afraid I’ll make a fool of myself.
Girl: You like Melanie, don’t you?
Me: Does she (previous girl) have any friends?
Girl: 1. Believe it or not.
Me: Why?
Girl: They have been friends since kindergarten.
Me: Well, I might have gone with her, until I heard she was telling lies about me.
Girl: What did she say?
Me: I heard a while back that she said that I was going with her.
Girl: Who do you like besides Melanie?
Me: A lot of people, but most of them as friends. Does Melanie know that I like her?
Girl: Would you go with me or do you just like me as a friend?
Me: I like you more than just a friend, but you know what happened last time I went with you.
Girl: I’m sorry about that. I made a BIG mistake. I don’t blame you for being mad, but I do still like you.
Me: Will you go with me?
Girl: Yes
Follow up: I don’t really remember going with the girl, so it must not have lasted very long. Valerie and I later became friends. I don’t remember ever seeing Melanie again.

Why can’t things be this simple now?
