Family Reunion Via Phone
This afternoon my mom and I finally got thru on the phone to my aunt in Paraguay. It was really quite emotional and something to hear. Both my mom and aunt were so excited that they could barely understand one another. They kept speaking at the same time and asking each other to repeat what the other had said. I think Ruben, the cousin from Monday, had called her yesterday, because it sounded as if she was expecting our call. She told us about a few other family members who had died, but again said that most everyone was alive and well. She asked to hear my voice and so I spoke. Since my Spanish is so very poor, I really didn’t have much to say. Actually, I guess I only said hello.
Now that we know how to contact them, maybe we can actually plan a trip to visit. When we got off the phone, my mom blurted out, “After we took our trip out West, I thought we’d go to Paraguay in August. Now August is over.” Ugh gee, Mom, thanks for telling me this now. For the past 10 years, every time I brought up the subject, you acted as if you weren’t interest and didn’t want to be bothered. Anyway, I am very excited. I wasn’t sure we’d ever get through to them and we couldn’t really plan a trip without speaking to them first.
If you guys are on good behavior, I will try to find some other poems/letters from junior high to post for your amusement.

Sam, congratulations on finding your family members. I am very excited for you! Say hello to everyone back home, especially your mom! Do you have any “dung” related letters or poems you wrote way back in 6th grade?? lol

Sam, congrats on finding relatives! The trip will be great, whenever it ends up happening!
