Halloween Is Coming

Halloween is my favorite holiday here in New York. Actually, I’ve loved Halloween every since I can remember. When I was a kid, I loved going Trick or Treating. When I was in middle school and junior high, I loved going to the school’s Halloween Carnival (later called the Fall Festival.) When I was in high school, during Halloween we’d hang out and go rolling yards.
When I came to New York, I found the wonder that is the Greenwich Village Halloween Parade. I also became a Halloween party junkie. One year my college gang and I crashed a celebrity Halloween party at The Tunnel night club. It was supposed to be for Mariah Carey’s close personal friends, but a close bud of mine decided that she should be able to cash in on her internship at Mariah’s label (where they gave her no money or respect) and somehow our names mysteriously appeared on the [extremely limited] guest list.
Needless to say, I was pretty crushed a few weeks ago when I realized that this year Halloween would fall on a night that I had class. Originally, I figured I could duck out of class a little early, but now it looks like I may have to miss class to go out of town on business.
Fortunately, I think Robin may have her party before the actual day and last night another buddy had a pumpkin carving party. (He’s leaving town for a couple of weeks to hike thru the Himalayas with his dad. How cool is that?)
Anyway, Nathan, thank you for helping to feed my obsession with Halloween. Here’s part of last year’s obsession.
