Then it hit me! I forgot to buy a December ticket!

I asked him how much it was to buy a ticket on board.

$15

After looking in my wallet, I realized that I did not have enough cash on me to buy the ticket.
I asked if they took credit cards on board.

Of course, they don’t.

I asked him to come back so I could look through my bag and all my pockets.

He agreed.

Of course, I recently cleaned out my bag, so it turns out that I didn’t have anything hidden away.

I made it through all the derailments and delays from the last few weeks and then this happened.

What annoyance.

I had to get off the train so that I could go buy a ticket from the machine with my credit card.

To make matters worse, after I bought the ticket and waited for another train, the ticket guy on the next train didn’t even look at my ticket!

This week we filled out paperwork for living will, power of attorney, etc. I am not sure I was really ready for all of it.

Most of the questions were pretty easy. As a married couple, if something happened to me, everything would go to Heidi and vice versa. I was not prepared for the lawyer to ask who should get the baby if something were to happen to both Heidi and me. Shouldn’t there been an application process to this? What’s the proper criteria?

I have since been obsessed with asking everyone if they ever discussed this with their parents, when they were growing up.

I don’t remember it, but when I was a kid, my mom left me with one of her best friends, when went out of the country for a few days. Apparently they agreed that if something happened, Rinda was to raise both my sister and me. They still talk about this today.

As I got older, I always thought that if it really came down to it, my Aunt Brice would probably raise us.

I never really thought about having these kinds of thoughts and conversations about my own kids.

It hit me a couple of weeks ago when the new Mac came out. I wanted to buy a new computer. For at least a year, I have been deleting semi-important files, just so I had enough room to install system updates. (Yes, I have an external drive, but that is not the point.) A few weeks ago, Apple released a new 12 MacBook. It has virtually everything that I need and I have the money, but after looking at it for several weeks, I finally just decided to upgrade my internal harddrive. This is like getting recaps instead of new tires. I feel like everyone is making these same decisions - whether it is deciding if shoes will make it a few more months, the coat will make it another season or the car will make it a few more years. It creates a whole snowball effect. I am kinda afraid for Black Friday.

(At least I have the computer back in working order.)
